Funeral Service Honors

Thousands honored U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman Maxton "Max" Soviak, 22, of Berlin Heights, Ohio, during a funeral service on September 13, 2021, at Edison High School. Killed in the Aug. 26 Kabul airport bombing, he was remembered as a hero who died aiding others. The community, along with state officials, attended to pay respects, featuring a military flyover, procession, and tributes to his service.
